Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP - Law Firm Pro Bono Award

mManatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is receiving the 2008 Law Firm Pro Bono Award in recognition of the extraordinary breadth and depth of their commitment to providing legal services to the poor. The scope of Manatt’s pro bono work spans all seven of Public Counsel’s legal projects. They have distinguished themselves through their work on highly complex and technical matters and in their representation of highly underserved clients and communities.

Manatt has handled matters including adoptions for Spanish speaking clients, many involving special needs children who they helped access special services and higher adoption benefits; abused and abandoned children eligible for relief under the federal Special Immigrant Juvenile Statute (SIJS); residential day care providers seeking operating permits; nonprofits involved in large transactions; advocacy on behalf of homeless veterans, individuals and families; representing victims of consumer/real estate fraud; handling an appeal for a client all the way up to the California Supreme Court; assisting attorneys in our Housing Element project and more.
