Self-Help Resource Centers


Located at Superior Court locations throughout L.A. County, Self-Help Resource Centers provide education and assistance to parties who do not have attorneys and need to complete documents and court procedures on their own. 

Designated Self-Help Resource Centers are operated through community partnerships with the following agencies:

  • Neighborhood Legal Services
  • Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles
  • L.A. County Department of Consumer Affairs
  • Community Legal Services

Specific services are provided within certain centers by:

  • Bet Tzedek Legal Services
  • Los Angeles Center for Law & Justice

Self-Help Resource Centers provide assistance for the following types of cases:

  • Family Law
  • Divorce
  • Paternity
  • Guardianship
  • Child custody
  • Landlord/tenant
  • Eviction
  • Unlawful detainer
  • Name change
  • Obtaining a civil restraining order
  • Civil complaints
