Alert on EDD Work Sharing Program – Employers that want to avoid layoffs can take advantage of the Work Sharing program. Work Sharing allows employers to reduce the hours of several employees who then access partial Unemployment Insurance to compensate for reduced hours. - Updates to Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)- Congress recently enacted changes to PPP to provide more flexibility to nonprofits and small businesses accessing funds. Our partner organization, D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, has created this resource which discusses these changes. (June 11, 2020)
- Small Business Relief Under the CARES Act (including loans) - The recently passed Coronavirus Aid and Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) provides loans to small businesses, including nonprofits, to maintain their payroll. These loans may be forgiven. The law firm Cozen and O'Connor has prepared a summary of the CARES Act, including a detailed discussion of available relief to small businesses. (March 31, 2020)
- U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business Guide to the CARES Act -- Information on Loans to Nonprofits -The U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship has prepared the attached guide on new programs for small business in the CARES Act, including loans to employers who maintain their payroll.
