We set a new record at the Run for Justice! Nearly 600 runners joined the LA Big 5K as part of the ASICS LA Marathon weekend on March 8 to support Public Counsel. Dodger Stadium was chock-full of our trademark orange T-shirts as more than 40 teams from major law firms and corporations competed to raise funds and have fun.

US Bank, Katten Muchin Rosenman and Sidley Austin LLP sponsored our exclusive pre-run meet-and-greet at the 3rd Base Prime Ticket Club inside Dodger Stadium.
"In terms of public interest there's nobody better than Public Counsel," said Darrell Brown, senior vice president of US Bank's consumer banking group. "Public Counsel brings so many law firms together to make sure there's unity and vision for those who might not have a voice, and US Bank is proud to be part of it."
"There's such a commitment to supporting Public Counsel," said Jan Cate, a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman who ran with her son. "It's a family, and it's fun to do the right thing."
Sidley Austin partner and Public Counsel board member Mark Haddad said this year his firm sent its biggest team yet. "Every challenge the world has, we have right here in Los Angeles," he said. "There's not an organization like Public Counsel in terms of the breadth of services and the number of cases you take."
Pat Kennell, a Sidley associate who is on Public Counsel's Associate Leadership Board, ran for the fourth year, but the first time with his 1-year-old daughter Ani. He said he had represented a gay Mexican man on a pro bono immigration case with a team from Sidley. "We love the fantastic work that Public Counsel does. It's very fulfilling to be able to help out."
