GREAT START LEGAL WORKSHOP: Serving Children with Special Needs - October 23, 2014
Public Counsel's Early Care & Education Law Unit will be offering its next Great Start Legal Workshop on Serving Children with Special Needs: Regional Center Advocacy on October 23, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
As a child care provider, you may have worked with families of children with disabilities or delays. Many of these children qualify for crucial regional center services to help them. This workshop will help you increase your engagement efforts and learn how to help these families connect with regional center services, advocate for their rights, and support their children. You'll also have the opportunity to network and share stories with other child care providers.
The presenter is Brian Capra, a Staff Attorney from Public Counsel's Children's Right's Project. Brian is an expert in California's regional center system with more than 13 years of experience representing families and children with developmental disabilities such as intellectual disability, and autism. On October 23, he will provide an overview of the regional center system, the application process and qualification requirements, how to access regional center services, and the process for resolving disagreements with a regional center.
The workshop may be viewed via live webinar (from the convenience of your home or office computer) or in person at Public Counsel, 610 S. Ardmore Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90005.
