Hernan D. Vera, president and chief executive officer of pro bono law firm Public Counsel, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to join the State Justice Institute's board of directors. President Obama nominated Vera for the position earlier this year. The non-profit State Justice Institute provides courts with project grants as well as scholarships for court judges and managers.
